Well I must say this class has been one happy treat. I would like to thank everyone in class G for helping me enjoy this class. There are some great people in this class. I appreciate everything each person did for me. I want to wish everyone good luck in the future, I want everyone to be successful. Always remember to be better today and than you was yesterday. THANKS DR. STRANGE AND MS. AVERITT

FINAL POST

1. To completely honest if you didn't learn or enjoy one thing in this class then you need to wake up. This class has taught me to go the extra mile dig deep be more creative. I enjoyed doing the podcast I absolutely love audacity now. I enjoyed the networking I was able to come across a great PLN site. I think blogging is a very resourceful tool to use either in your classroom or at home. I think I will continue to blog because it gives me that outlet to go out and express my true feelings. At first it was difficult to understand this class because things change frequently but I really enjoyed it Dr. Strange your a very funny and enthusiastic professor great job.
This class has really took me and put me in different situations I wasn't ready for but with time it made it all worth it because I enjoyed what I was doing and to actually see the work I was able to present was nice. Google is the absolute best it has everything you can possibly think of right there for you. I will continue to use Google docs as a work station because of its convenience. Of course I enjoyed making videos and putting them on youtube. I'm sure I will add more videos pretty soon.

2. I cannot possibly think of anything else that you haven't taught me already to actually want to learn but if I do I know who to contact.

3.No I can't really say that I hate learning anything because each thing we learned will only make us better teachers.

4. This class was exciting because the class made everything so much fun, Dr. Strange very down to earth and good person, Ms. Averitt was such a sweet woman. My classmates were awesome I enjoyed them.

5.This was very challenging because you always had to keep pace. This class keeps you busy always something due or something coming up.

6. Bored???? There was no time to ever be bored.

7.I wouldn't change anything keep making us students even more technologically literate.

8.Yes I'm technology literate. rate myself as being GOOD.

9.Never forget what I learned and continue to take advantage of the different technological opportunities I am given.

Project 15 videocast

Project 8

This is my project 8 using technology. I decided to create a video. Showing others how to tie a tie. There are plenty of people out here who have no clue how to tie one. So if my video can show at least one person. I have did my job.

P L N Post Part 2

Well since the last time I spoke with you on the development of my personal learning network. I recently joined twitter and began following other physical education teachers using pe central. I also like using face book also joined the pe central group, where I can connect with others about different ideas that I can implement in my classroom in the future. Mr. Mark Manross is the creator a tremendous man who responds to your questions or needs about physical education. It was surprising to me at first because many people do not take physical education teachers very serious when it comes to teaching. But in today's society with the increase of childhood obesity. The need for good and inspirational teachers are needed.
With my personal learning network it gives me the opportunity to interact with other teachers about whats going on at there schools. They are able to assist me and give me different ideas to help keep my kids active and entertained while exercising. This is truly just the beginning to not even be out of college and able to interact with such great people right now in your field is great. My personal learning network is just beginning right now hopefully with time I can increase my knowledge and build my name up as a tremendous physical education teacher. I would personally like thank EDM 310 for introducing me to a personal learning network.

Survey

During the semester I created a survey to gain some feedback on how everyone in my class felt about the things we learned in this class and whether they would utilize them in the future in there classroom in any grade level. In my results surprisingly no one had any interest in teaching middle school and that mostly all were going to use podcast in the future. Click Here for the Results

GOOGLE EARTH

In my Google earth I happen to take you on a tour of the places I have been. We started in Austell, Georgia, then traveled to Nashville TN, moving on to Jacksonville, Florida. I great cruise to Bahamas was next. Finally where every kid loves to go visit Orlando, Florida.

BLog post April 25

Seventh Grader PLE Presentation.

Its amazing how for one this seventh grader already has a PLE but also her speaking ability in her video. She does a great job describing for us her PLE she was very well organized and actually knew her material. Everything was neat you can tell she put hard work into it and actually took advantage of all the tools. I think its a great thing to not only show kids these new tools but also let them create and become familiar. I have to say her PLE is way better than mine, I should of skyped her for some tips on ways to improve. Link to video click here

Two questions that can change your life by Daniel Pink

Wow in those two minutes alone it leaves you really thinking hard on how to really describe our true feelings or how you should express yourself. Mr. Pink had two very important thought provoking questions. The first question was "What is your sentence"? It gave some incredible examples of sentences said my different famous people. Right now I cannot think of one that I really agree but it would involve changing at least one child's life. The second question was, " Was I better today than I was yesterday"? Great question that I think each person should be able to ask themselves every night. Because each day you wake up and start your day you should want to do better to become more successful.

Comments for teachers week 13 and 14

Well came across Tom Barrett. It was very encouraging to read. My favorite was I Hope, where he talked about the things he is wishing for his son to experience while in school. I think its important for every parent to take part in there child's education. His discussion about if fish were ideas was important because many people do not look as twitter as that important type of communication. I think its important for teachers to share ideas to help build each teachers teaching ability. As a future educator I would love to learn first from someone who is passionate about there job. Learn how to deal with certain situations.

Comments for teachers week 10 and 12

My comments for teachers was very interesting. I was able to meet Bill Ferriter The tempered radical. It was very entertaining especially his post on the mother who adopted the baby and sent him back to Russia. I completely understood where he was coming from she was completely wrong for that. He post entitled real men read was a great one. I completely agree Duke had no business winning the national championship. This was the best comments for teachers a great man.

Comments for kids week 14

I really enjoyed looking at Gracie's blog. She is very creative she is actually using vocarro herself. She enjoys the Olympics and got to even meet her blogging buddy. I think that is a great idea to actually let the kids know that there is someone out there reading there work.

Blog Post 13

I have learned in this class to be creative and accept change. During my time here in edm 310 I have learned to be more creative to step outside the box from the normal things that come easy to me to being able to use my brain and come up with some creative things. They have been times where I wanted to do something easy and be done. But now I know to step outside the box and take the time out to create something nice that I can be proud of. I think change is something each teacher should come to agreement with because the world isn't the same. Technology and the way the world is operated is different. Kids need new structure to be able to become successful, in this class everyone is able to become familiar with other forms of technology and personally it has made me better person. I think I will stick to blogging as a way of expressing myself. Use audacity of many projects. This class keeps you busy but is very beneficial. My question to you are you ready to be creative and willing to accept change.

April 11 th Blog assignment

I think its important for teachers to let there kids post there work. Because it gives kids some positive exposure to the internet. I think the PS 22 was a great if not the best thing I have seen kids do in awhile. Those kids each and everyone was singing there hearts out to such a positive song. You can tell that the teacher really got the kids to listen and believe in what she was teaching them. The PS 22 is a great example for kids to use to post work, another would be using blogs to let kids have there freedom to express themselves. I think it will improve kids reading and writing abilities. I really enjoy using audacity because you can do various things with it. I think its important to not be a zax I would love for teachers to get out there comfort zone and just like students try learning something new. I think if you can break those bad habits or routines it can be beneficial. As a future educator I think its important to take what we learn in this class and apply it because you can help build these kids dreams.

Comments for kids week 13

Well one of my favorite things to do in my free time is bowling also. I must admit I wasnt very good at all when I started but I have improved a little bit. Might even go this weekend.

Comments for kids week 12

I really my comments for kids. I really like the art work. The level of creativity was pretty unique. The male lion by Maurice was my favorite.

Comments for kids week 10

My comments for kids was a little different this time was about faces. When you post a face they turn, it was weird yet nice to view.

Comments for kids week 9

My comments for kids was very unique I enjoyed looking at the appleby tryathlon. It would be alot fun to participate in. The pictures look great.

My EDM 310 questionaire

Please fill out let me know your true feelings.

Comments for teachers week 7,8,9

In my comments for teachers I came across Ms. Shelly Terrell. I think she is a wonderful teacher who cares deeply about her kids. When reading her blog she stated that having a mustard seed of faith could move mountains. I totally agree with her if you can get a person to believe in what they are doing and has that support system anything is possible. She has a winning attitude and is there to help support her students.
She also gives teacher good sites to visit that are very helpful. Like myself I joined twitter and thought it was a complete waste of time. But she mention that she uses it to chat with other educators. She has some great videos and pictures on her page to view. I came across toondo which lets you create cartoons and I think it was a pretty cool idea.

Project 6 Skype

During my time in edm 310 I was introduced to skype which is a very impressive tool to communicate. I use it to communicate with classmates on projects. I have used it to communicate with family in other states. I think skype is a tool that can be used in every classroom. Each teacher can communicate with other schools.

Blog Post Assignment 11

This blog assignment was different but very rewarding. I think each post that was viewed was a great way to show other teachers how to reach out. I think its important as teachers if were really going to prepare our students to be able to use the technological teachings of today were going to have to become comfortable and all be willing to integrate it. I feel that no matter what small or big town you come from, the educational tools are available for each and everyone.
Kaia being only three and has done a photo essay already is wonderful. I think its nice how her father took the time to actually go out and let her take pictures as a way of expressing the way she viewed the desert. Many parents wouldn't even do this such thing with a child at that age. I don't know many parents who are interacting this much technologically with a three year old, especially when she mention how her dad was showing her even though somethings seem ugly at first there so beautiful within. For me this lesson just shows that its never to early to learn or become technologically literate. I wish we had the opportunity as younger students to do blogs or podcasts. I see the growth in technology in education but yet see the growth of a teacher in my state or city actually using these tools.

Blog Post Assignment 10

Well In some ways I have to agree with Dan Brown and Morgan Bayda and others I disagree. In today's education things are different at each and every university. You have some professors who may give you that 110% every class session and others who may let the things in there life effect there day and most importantly my education. As a future educator the most important goal is to not only teach but inspire them to always reach and go after there goals in life. I agree that education is still stuck in the past years and it needs improvement. I am also so tired of sitting in these 3 hour lectures to be absolutely bored and to see a teacher look lost. The most frustrating part each semester is buying these expensive books that we never ever ever ever use. Especially when teachers say it's a requirement to purchase the book. I think some educators have there own way of teaching and once they establish it, they never really go back and change there style of teaching.
Many people I have spoken too feel like going to class everyday and passing tests only prepares you a little bit. Most people learn better when working on the job. But as students we often criticize teachers but could we actually do a better job? I think Dan Brown was a good thing for him because he felt as if he wasn't receiving the proper education he needed. School isn't for everyone each person should find something that there passionate about and follow it.

Blog Post Assignment 9

ALEX
Alex is a very colorful and very educational site ">click here. It gives you eight links on the following: courses of study, web links, lesson plans, search, personal workspace, professional learning, podcasting treasure, and Help. Each one gives a teacher some great informational strategies to use within there classroom to help increase learning. It can be a very resourceful tool when writing lesson plans.

While researching I came across the Alabama Department of Education Leadership & Education. Within this site there mission is to provide advice for the development of a seamless system of professional development for Alabama instructional leaders. Leaders are to promote the mission of enhancing school leadership. These two sites are great to use as a teacher to help your students.

ACCESS
Access was a new site that I visited that was used for high school students. The goal of ACCESS is to continue to meet objectives of the access plan, expanding the availability of Access Distance Learning to all public high schools in the state, It gives equal opportunities for high school students and gives students great programs. The future of ACCESS is to provide a 21st century distance learning classroom for every Alabama High Schools. They offer training to certified teachers to become e-teachers.

The site has a list of courses available within ACCESS. ACCESS was launched on November 1, 2004. The distance education intake was the culmination of research and planning by Governor Bob Riley. They have different support centers through out the state to assist. This site is great for all high school students to explore to gain information and extra practice.

Comments4kids week 8

Well I really enjoyed this comment4kids it was about organisation. I think being organize is very important especially when doing school work. Because you never want to lose that important paper or key notes for a study guide. Especially in writing papers because you never want to run things together that would confuse you. Sometimes I really confuse myself with my handwriting.

Comments4kids week 7

Well in week 7 for comment for kids I met Shampaine. He recently celebrated his birthday and received a lot of nice presents I must say. Hopefully on March 21 I receive some nice gifts also.

Comments4kids week 6

I really enjoyed my week 6 comment for kids because I met Tom Joe. He is very excited about using technology and he loves wwe wrestling. When I was younger wrestling on Mondays and Thursdays was must see t.v.

Blog Post Assignment 8

Randy Pausch's Last Lecture

Great man, I think it's great how this man has done this lecture with his health issue at the intensity he did it. He is dealing with a serious health problem but he has no signs of depression. In his lesson he spoke about: his childhood dreams, enabling the dreams of others, and lesson learned: how you can achieve your dreams or enable your dreams of others. I agree with him when he stated if your screwing up and no one corrects you then they have given up on you. I like how he mention his dreams then went through and gave a discussion of them. To have your boyhood idol meet you has to be a pretty nice experience. His example with brick walls was awesome he stated how they let us know how badly we want things and how if we want to achieve them were willing to fight through the bricks.
Pausch was a great person to listen to he speaks his mind and kept his crowd entertained. This man followed his dreams went and did things most people actually just dream on doing. He actually took the time out as a professor to help each kid reach dreams. He described how his assignment of 50 students was so great that parents and roommates were stopping by to see the experience. The cartoon was very cute and how it didn't want to end even after she took after the headset. To have kids lined up outside to view something educational was awesome feeling.
He created programs at his university to help serve other university's. With each and everything he did he put his all into it, I would love to visit Pixar. To actually have companies guaranteeing jobs to your graduates speakes volumes to what they have done at the university. I agree having someone who is self reflective is a plus and how millions have fun learning something hard. In his last lecture you can tell how he wanted to just give thanks to everyone he was involved with.
I think the things he did as a teacher speaks volumes of him as a person. I feel like within just this one hour of video you see how gifted he was and how his goal was to succeed in life. If we had a lot more teachers to motivate and put the amount of effort into there work. Education would be so much better to actually view it bigger than just a paying job but as a way to motivate others. He mention how was like tigger because he was dying but still happy and always having fun. I think this assignment was incredible because no matter what a person is going through he still found time to reach out to millions of people. In his video he showed me how even though he was dying he wanted to give thanks to everyone that inspired him. I encourage each and everyone to take out sometime to at least listen to half of this video very inspiring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

Blog Post Assignment 7

This is how we dream

In this presentation he really express the need for everyone to focus on the needs for reading and writing. We are living at the biggest time of change of human communication. In this video he expressed ways to go from a reading/writing to a listening/watching culture. With just books on your particular research you cannot go any deeper you just have what's available in that book. With a computer you can research it deeper and receive many other references to help with your research. I think his research on Virginia Tech killings were incredible especially the view on Bush doctrine how the people voted.
He said how just printing the document and mailing it how people would just throw them away and it lives for only a few days, how if it was on the web it lives forever. That is a very true statement many people wouldn't keep that particular information for a substantial amount of time eventually it ends up in trash. His print and sound document was incredible because each contained a lot of good information. In his lectures he gives you many ways of composing information from different articles or images and creating just one presentation. I think his networking and communicating with others help push his work but also get other opinions to use.
You have many resources such as itunes u to compose many academic lectures. He mention how ideas shouldn't belong to just a individual but as a culture. I think many educators or people in general do not really believe that some people are out just better themselves to only make them look good. People can post there information on youtube or itunes u to get there information out there. I feel like the hard part is getting a university who is willing to get the resources needed to present this to a classroom. I think I am prepared to write with multimedia. I do not completely know everything but willing to learn. I think students will be able to do this because this is the way technology is working towards. Computers are going to be more valuable then ever in the future.

The networked student
I think the video was nice it really showed many of the things our class has used and become familiar with this semester. Who would ever think the need for a book would start to lose so much value. I have learned so much in this class using technology then in any other. The video gives you a more visual insight on how virtual and networked learning is becoming. I think the use of graphics were nice. There was no big presentation but the things use gave everyone a great vision of what they were doing.
A networked teacher is important because she is helps with developing a personal learning network and gives you the tools to use to create one. She offers you guidance and tells you how to communicate properly. How to look for good and bad information. A networking teacher is very valuable to not only give you a grade but also showing you the way to effectively a PLN and how to communicate using a network. I am not yet prepared because I want to create a much more deeper PLN. I think it will be nice to see how the middle school students will react to this type of learning. I think using different types of technology with younger students help create better technology for the future.

Michael Wesch
I enjoyed his video especially the way he broke down why people do things. We as people become who we are through our own interaction with others. The world of youtube is huge, I never really knew how many people use youtube and how many videos are uploaded daily. Youtube gives people a way to connect themselves to the world and let them express themselves freely.

Blog Post Assignment 6

Dr. Alice Christie
Dr. Alice Christie created her site to share what she learned as an educator. She had one section on web design which was very informative. I personally have always wanted to be more creative with my networking pages such as myspace but never really knew how. She mention how educators can take advantage of the internet to create purposeful and well designed web sites, targeted for their students, parents, other teachers, and also the community. I feel that having a site for your classroom students and teachers is a very neat and exciting tool. As a teacher you can use it to incorporate the parents more and let them know when assignments are due and also things that are going on inside your classroom or school.
For students I think having a site is great for short quizzes, class room lectures, homework assignments and even some podcasting that may be done in your class. Dr. Christie gave some great web sites as references to go and checkout to help with your web design. She broke each section down well sharing with us things to remember when doing a site. I feel one thing great about her is that she not only does this for her students so they get the maximum out her classroom but also the general public has the chance to grab some extra knowledge on things they may not know. I enjoyed her photography section as well how she took a group of pictures and made them one picture it was very neat.

iTunes U
iTunes U helps make education a little more simple to distribute information to your students and teachers in the comfort of your own home. Itunes U is simple to use accessible through itunes, students can download podcast or videos. Its accessible to everyone including those with disabilities. It can be used on iphones and ipods. Itunes U brings the classoom to you, so people can learn at their own pace. I think this can be used well in special education another method for kids to get the best knowledge available some people may learn better through a computer rather than a chalk board.
Each institution can create a site so teachers are able to upload lectures, lab demonstration, and historical footage, and whatever they choose. Each institution has control over who is able to view the information. I think itunes u is a very creative tool to use for a teacher to be able to communicate better with students through this type of technology. If a teacher is unable to attend class this site becomes even more valuable because she can always just post the assignment or lecture. Some universities have already adopted this site to use.

The use of Ipods
Duke University decided to incorporate digital technology with academics. They even distributed free ipods to incoming freshmen in 2004. Duke University really gave you everything you need to know about ipods in the classroom on this particular site, it broke everything down from the good to the bad and also the challenges with incorporating it into academics. I would of never imagined the use of ipods in the classroom because of how many students would actually use them for what they were actually distributed to them for.
On one site it have me four interesting ways to use an ipod: math apps, fantastic contraption, voice memo, and collect data with google forms. So many parents look at ipods as just another way of listening to music and playing games. Not many parents or even teachers have viewed ipods as an educational tool. I think ipods and itunes have now really made a way for many educators to enhance there classroom. Another way of receiving research now because with so many loop holes in wikipedia, I think with itunes you can get some better trusted information.

My comments4kids week 5 was interesting story called Bitten. About a young girl getting bitten by a spider. The spider had bitten her and she felt this horrible pain in her skin.

Comments4kids week 4

In week four for my comments4kids, I came across Colleen who took pictures of classmate and they played with photoshop. I personally think photoshop is a great tool because you can do so many things with it.

Blog Post Assignment 5

NPR and Wikipedia

Well this is actually my first time reading about the things that have happened on wikipedia. I know personally that I have often referenced wikipedia about different research projects. I do often feel certain things on the internet are to good to be true. But it never really came to me that wikipedia would be one of them because so many people use it and you would think they would offer you the best information with all honesty. Now I wonder has some of my research information has ever been rewritten or incorrect. The only reason major companies do such things is to help make there company look good in the eyes of consumers. To hear about politicians doing so isn't a big surprise because they are known as liars.
To me wikipedia can still be trusted in some way but in my mind a little trust has been lost because I have to now go a little deeper to find out if my research is true. Based on the type of research being done many people will continue to trust the information given to them by wikipedia. The wikipedia scanner is a nice invention because now you get to see who is changing the information but where is it coming from exactly. I think the bigger surprise is how it isn't illegal to change someone else's information.

"What I've learned this year"

In this post I think it was very informative because it actually states the growth and development of the teacher and how he adjusted to the things that was thrown his way. A great point that was made was how as a teacher you still had to continue to learn and listen to your students and not get frustrated with your students when they don't quite reach your goals. He stated to stay positive that by it self is important because often you see the people get down on all the negatives but never see the good in a least one positive. As a person you should create that environment at work that your comfortable in and that you can do your best to continue to motivate and help kids learn. Each title to his paragraphs are good keys as a teacher to remember: How to read the crows, be flexible, communicate, be reasonable, don't be afraid of technology, listen to your students, lastly never stop learning. I agree with all them especially to not be afraid of technology. In this world today the key is technology it's time for teachers to accept it and use it to help motivate your classroom.

Blog Post Assignment 4

Lang Witches blog: It's not about the tools its about the skills.

The title alone it self makes you think a very intriguing article. Do the words blogging, skyping,or podcasting really intimidate the educators of today. Does it make a teacher uncomfortable with the type of technology out there that could be implemented into the classrooms. I feel all these tools could be useful in many subjects in many different ways. Especially language, reading and your media type classrooms. I don't think teachers should get away from the basics of teaching. But when given the chance to implement new teaching strategies using these tool, I feel every teacher should not only take a look at them but also practice with them become more familiar with the technology no teacher should be technology illiterate in today's world.
I think if certain skills are used in schools after training your administrators and teachers. Schools should reach out to the parents for a technology workshop. To demonstrate and explain some of the new technology that's out there that could help better that child. Parents knowing about these new programs also helps get more parental support in your PTO meetings many parents will hopefully give that school the support to use these materials. I think having kids demonstrate the effects of this technology at the meetings would be beneficial. Even though there is a risk at using these, no one should ever be afraid of participating in the activities of things such as podcasting, blogging, or skyping. If your afraid to me that means your afraid to learn, afraid to step outside the box and try new things. Because if your going to be able to educate and prepare these kids for the world then your going to have to incorporate different strategies into there education to get a message to a child, what may work for one child may not work for another. Having first grade kids using these it really makes a parent and teacher confident that it's a great thing to explore for every school system.

Blog Post Assignment 3

Overall when I first started this lesson I thought I wasn't going to make it. Podcast are very informative and it gives children another way of networking and educating people on the world of technology.

Smart Board
I think the smart board podcast is the most interesting because smart board has become very popular. I think you see many schools going to this type of system inside there classroom. I think smart board is a little more advance than the past. I think smart board is a very good tool because it gives teachers more things to work with and a better overall demonstration of the lessons. I feel that if every school took advantage of smart board a lot of teachers will fall in love with this. Its better than a chalk board and better than a over head projector.

Kidcast 61
Kidcast is very interesting it discusses many topics that are discussed in classrooms. One of the interesting ones was about data. The guy came across some public service announcements and he was questioning the data and meaningful analysis. He was very critical on trying to figure out what they were saying. They needed to present some data that shows how recycling could improve the environment. He suggested going to have interviews with many people who work in sanitation and for the government about the problem. In this podcast you can tell how he was interested in the recycling but he wanted some information on what’s being done and what kind of things can be done. He gave a great example of going out finding out different information about the topic before coming up with a conclusion. I really enjoyed this podcast because it not only was about education but also about the environment.

MacBreak weekly 177
I really enjoyed listening to this because earlier this week I heard about the ipad and the cost. At first I wasn't that interested in it but as I heard more about it I think this is a must have for a lot of people. By listening to the podcast each person discuss there experience with the product. They discussed how unique the ipad is and the expectations for it is huge and the three different ones coming out in 60days. Anyone interested in buying one of these this podcast would be a great tool to use when wanting to know some information about it. I think the most important thing discussed was who is going to be more appealing to. I think this product is going to be more for the computer geeks or big business people who are really in love with the world of technology.

This week in photography 126
This show dealt with racism in photography. They talked openly about the many different types of cameras that have face detection and how Sony which is made by Asians, some people may not fit into this style of camera such as the face detection feature. Many feel the sample group should be much bigger not just sample on the people who make it. In this episode these guys are photographers and each gave a description of the type of camera they use and which one they are interested in purchase. They really went into the pros and cons of many different cameras also the types of effects of the cameras. This podcast gives anyone that's interested in buying a camera some great options to consider.

IPhone Babies

I must say that was very interesting to look at because I never would think babies would be using iphones. I don't even own a iphone and they know more than I do about them. It may be time to invest my money into one. So when I start teaching I can share some of my experiences.

Blog Post Assignment 2

A vision of students today
This video is incredible it really breaks down and portrays the college experience very well. I think the only point that didn't really qualify would be the over crowded classrooms. I agree we as students purchase these expensive textbooks that we never really use during class or need for reading. There are plenty of students who pay for class but only show for test day. One of the most important points is the fact that when we accomplish this goal of graduating we will all be in some kind of debt.
I liked the opening message that stated "Today's child is bewildered when he enters the 19th century environment that still characterized the educational establishment where information is scarce but ordered and structured by fragmented, classified patterns subjects, and schedules." Marshall McLuhan 1967. I agree some reading done in class is just too much and very little will play a role in your life later on. I think students today school is very stressful and time consuming that's why some rarely ever come back. The only thing that keeps most motivated is that we need this to be successful and have the nicer things in life. I think the progress of technology has made everyone learn more than ever before. I think this movie captures students college life well. If I had to add anything to this it would be more of the life on campus in different organizations but also the things needing to be done at home with your family.

Its not about the technology
I agree with Mrs. Hines when she stated "While I completely agree with the fact that these are innovative tools for teaching and learning, I do not agree that these are the first thing we need to intrigue change in our classrooms." I feel these are great tools but in order to get a child to concentrate you shouldn't need i pods and podcast to make a child pay attention maybe to enhance a child's learning. If each teacher and student could connect more mentally then the access need for technology wouldn't matter. The four things a teacher must recognize were correct. #1 Teachers must be learners, to demonstrate that no matter what school you graduate from no matter how many awards you have won, you need to be able to keep up with the world your kids live in. I feel like following a curriculum is all nice and good but each student needs a teacher who is willing to go beyond that to enhance there learning.
#2 Learning and teaching are not the same thing. I feel that no matter how many times you teach a certain topic if a student doesn't get it then the job isn't yet complete. i think a teacher should listen to students input to see which parts should be better explained or if someone has a better way to help understand the lesson. #3 Technology is useless without good teaching, if you don't know how to use it how are you going to be able to show someone else how to. A teacher needs to know when to use technology. #4 Be a 21st century teacher without technology . Great point I think technology is nice but if a student cannot remember you for more than that then the job your doing isn't good enough. I want kids to feel comfortable with me as a teacher and also someone they can come talk too about there problems. To be able to be a good parental guidance is important if i can save one person from the streets and gangs I will doing my job well. I think passion and determination is the key to success.
Is it okay to be technologically illiterate teacher
I agree with him throughout this post a teacher needs to be able to have some kind of technological literacy. A person has to be able to learn these particular tools in order to even be successful in there teachings. How are we suppose to motivate someone else to learn if weren't willing to motivate ourselves to learn more about technology which is the face of the earth today. One thing I liked the most was the fact that he knows technology is the end and be all of education.
The statement "If a teacher today is not technologically literate and is willing to make the effort to learn more its equivalent to a teacher 30 years ago who didn't know how to read and write" This is true how are you going to teach if you don't want to learn also. This post is incredible the way he broke the century differences down. Because the more technology being created and discovered the more each century a person is going to be required to learn and will go into not only teaching but ever profession.
Media Count
This media count just shows you how much technology is being used within seconds across the world. Many people wouldn't think changes happen that quick but obviously they do. I never would of thought that much money is spent on gifts on facebook. All these social networks are becoming even more popular to where even our parents are joining things such as facebook. I remember hearing people talk about how pointless it was and how dangerous but now there joining in on the fun. I think those sites are only safe as you want them to be. I think the graph shows us as students that if things are increasing like this within seconds in the future when technology is supposedly getting bigger then we are going to have our hands full inside those classrooms. To some people that could be very intimidating because they want to be paid more for the increase in work they are responsible for now. Technological literacy will always be a most to be able to teach and even more communicate with the world more successfully, because you need to have some understanding to relate this things to other students.

Blog Post Assignment 1

Did you know?

This has to be one of the most informative videos about the world. It really shows you how much the world of technology has changed. The fact that myspace would be the 5th largest country if it really existed, shows you how far the world of technology has come. To be able to connect with your family and friends in other countries in a matter of minutes over myspace is incredible. In the video is stated that "For Students starting a 4 year technological degree this means that... half of what they learn in the first year of study will be outdated by their third year of study." Which in it self tells you that the growth of technology increases each day. It also showed how big China is as a country and with the number of people in China they could create a lot of new technology. It shows you whats popular today could be gone tomorrow.

Mr.Winkle Wakes

Mr.Winkle Wakes express the usage of computers in school because technology is more important to kids today in school. Because by the time they graduate technology will be even bigger, so if they haven't received the basics in technology in high school by college they will be completely lost in the world of technology. I think if schools incorporate the use of technology and computers the insight and knowledge will become better. I think it could actually improve it child's grades, kids get a better learning with also computers and teachers if they can involve the curriculum. I think the toughest part would be funding for this type of technology where would they get the money.

The Importance of Creativity

During the video Ken Robinson said something very important that made me think he said " Creativity is important as literacy." I believe that because if you not letting a child express themselves how will you ever know that your getting everything a child has. I agree that inorder to really succeed in life a person needs a masters degree, because each year it seems as if the value of a degree becomes less. School systems have to get a way of letting kids express themselves and show some creativity. I think as a future educator you have to embrace the world of creativity and give a child a chance to express it.
I think because of the nature of the world and the types of things kids do. Many school systems do not like to take this kind of risk in letting kids express there creativity, because everyone wants to be a rapper or a superstar. Rappers express some poor forms of creativity that it really rubs people the wrong way.

Harness your Digital Smarts

I agree its good to switch up the teaching methods, because kids get tired of looking at blackboards all day. I think incorporating computers and other different digital teaching techniques will help exercise a child's mind. Every person needs to be in touch with technology to be able to keep up with many changes in the world. In class today many kids dont get a chance to use there brain to the maximum and if they did kids could be more creative and also advanced in the world of technology. I really like how Mrs.Davis has connected her students mind to the entire world of technology. The trip to the middle east had to be a great measure of how far she has become in teaching her students.
The kids teaching her terraforming was incredible because everyone expects the teacher to know everything and she should be the one teaching the students but she actually was able to learn something from the kids and actually use it. She was open minded in actually listening to her students and what they had to say. I love her passion for teaching not just a job she actually loves what she is doing. I took other courses dealing with computers but none of them never taught me something I didn't know, I wish schools would take risk on courses and try to improve the kids knowledge on technology and computers.
