Blog Post Assignment 8

Randy Pausch's Last Lecture

Great man, I think it's great how this man has done this lecture with his health issue at the intensity he did it. He is dealing with a serious health problem but he has no signs of depression. In his lesson he spoke about: his childhood dreams, enabling the dreams of others, and lesson learned: how you can achieve your dreams or enable your dreams of others. I agree with him when he stated if your screwing up and no one corrects you then they have given up on you. I like how he mention his dreams then went through and gave a discussion of them. To have your boyhood idol meet you has to be a pretty nice experience. His example with brick walls was awesome he stated how they let us know how badly we want things and how if we want to achieve them were willing to fight through the bricks.
Pausch was a great person to listen to he speaks his mind and kept his crowd entertained. This man followed his dreams went and did things most people actually just dream on doing. He actually took the time out as a professor to help each kid reach dreams. He described how his assignment of 50 students was so great that parents and roommates were stopping by to see the experience. The cartoon was very cute and how it didn't want to end even after she took after the headset. To have kids lined up outside to view something educational was awesome feeling.
He created programs at his university to help serve other university's. With each and everything he did he put his all into it, I would love to visit Pixar. To actually have companies guaranteeing jobs to your graduates speakes volumes to what they have done at the university. I agree having someone who is self reflective is a plus and how millions have fun learning something hard. In his last lecture you can tell how he wanted to just give thanks to everyone he was involved with.
I think the things he did as a teacher speaks volumes of him as a person. I feel like within just this one hour of video you see how gifted he was and how his goal was to succeed in life. If we had a lot more teachers to motivate and put the amount of effort into there work. Education would be so much better to actually view it bigger than just a paying job but as a way to motivate others. He mention how was like tigger because he was dying but still happy and always having fun. I think this assignment was incredible because no matter what a person is going through he still found time to reach out to millions of people. In his video he showed me how even though he was dying he wanted to give thanks to everyone that inspired him. I encourage each and everyone to take out sometime to at least listen to half of this video very inspiring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

  1. I agree with you about how inspiring Mr. Pausch was in this lecture. His passion and desire to fulfill his dreams was pretty awesome. Education would be really different if teachers viewed it as a way to motivate and encourage students. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We are those teachers that have to go out there and motivate and encourage and love our students! :)
