This is how we dream
In this presentation he really express the need for everyone to focus on the needs for reading and writing. We are living at the biggest time of change of human communication. In this video he expressed ways to go from a reading/writing to a listening/watching culture. With just books on your particular research you cannot go any deeper you just have what's available in that book. With a computer you can research it deeper and receive many other references to help with your research. I think his research on Virginia Tech killings were incredible especially the view on Bush doctrine how the people voted.
He said how just printing the document and mailing it how people would just throw them away and it lives for only a few days, how if it was on the web it lives forever. That is a very true statement many people wouldn't keep that particular information for a substantial amount of time eventually it ends up in trash. His print and sound document was incredible because each contained a lot of good information. In his lectures he gives you many ways of composing information from different articles or images and creating just one presentation. I think his networking and communicating with others help push his work but also get other opinions to use.
You have many resources such as itunes u to compose many academic lectures. He mention how ideas shouldn't belong to just a individual but as a culture. I think many educators or people in general do not really believe that some people are out just better themselves to only make them look good. People can post there information on youtube or itunes u to get there information out there. I feel like the hard part is getting a university who is willing to get the resources needed to present this to a classroom. I think I am prepared to write with multimedia. I do not completely know everything but willing to learn. I think students will be able to do this because this is the way technology is working towards. Computers are going to be more valuable then ever in the future.
The networked student
I think the video was nice it really showed many of the things our class has used and become familiar with this semester. Who would ever think the need for a book would start to lose so much value. I have learned so much in this class using technology then in any other. The video gives you a more visual insight on how virtual and networked learning is becoming. I think the use of graphics were nice. There was no big presentation but the things use gave everyone a great vision of what they were doing.
A networked teacher is important because she is helps with developing a personal learning network and gives you the tools to use to create one. She offers you guidance and tells you how to communicate properly. How to look for good and bad information. A networking teacher is very valuable to not only give you a grade but also showing you the way to effectively a PLN and how to communicate using a network. I am not yet prepared because I want to create a much more deeper PLN. I think it will be nice to see how the middle school students will react to this type of learning. I think using different types of technology with younger students help create better technology for the future.
Michael Wesch
I enjoyed his video especially the way he broke down why people do things. We as people become who we are through our own interaction with others. The world of youtube is huge, I never really knew how many people use youtube and how many videos are uploaded daily. Youtube gives people a way to connect themselves to the world and let them express themselves freely.

Blog Post Assignment 6
Dr. Alice Christie
Dr. Alice Christie created her site to share what she learned as an educator. She had one section on web design which was very informative. I personally have always wanted to be more creative with my networking pages such as myspace but never really knew how. She mention how educators can take advantage of the internet to create purposeful and well designed web sites, targeted for their students, parents, other teachers, and also the community. I feel that having a site for your classroom students and teachers is a very neat and exciting tool. As a teacher you can use it to incorporate the parents more and let them know when assignments are due and also things that are going on inside your classroom or school.
For students I think having a site is great for short quizzes, class room lectures, homework assignments and even some podcasting that may be done in your class. Dr. Christie gave some great web sites as references to go and checkout to help with your web design. She broke each section down well sharing with us things to remember when doing a site. I feel one thing great about her is that she not only does this for her students so they get the maximum out her classroom but also the general public has the chance to grab some extra knowledge on things they may not know. I enjoyed her photography section as well how she took a group of pictures and made them one picture it was very neat.
iTunes U
iTunes U helps make education a little more simple to distribute information to your students and teachers in the comfort of your own home. Itunes U is simple to use accessible through itunes, students can download podcast or videos. Its accessible to everyone including those with disabilities. It can be used on iphones and ipods. Itunes U brings the classoom to you, so people can learn at their own pace. I think this can be used well in special education another method for kids to get the best knowledge available some people may learn better through a computer rather than a chalk board.
Each institution can create a site so teachers are able to upload lectures, lab demonstration, and historical footage, and whatever they choose. Each institution has control over who is able to view the information. I think itunes u is a very creative tool to use for a teacher to be able to communicate better with students through this type of technology. If a teacher is unable to attend class this site becomes even more valuable because she can always just post the assignment or lecture. Some universities have already adopted this site to use.
The use of Ipods
Duke University decided to incorporate digital technology with academics. They even distributed free ipods to incoming freshmen in 2004. Duke University really gave you everything you need to know about ipods in the classroom on this particular site, it broke everything down from the good to the bad and also the challenges with incorporating it into academics. I would of never imagined the use of ipods in the classroom because of how many students would actually use them for what they were actually distributed to them for.
On one site it have me four interesting ways to use an ipod: math apps, fantastic contraption, voice memo, and collect data with google forms. So many parents look at ipods as just another way of listening to music and playing games. Not many parents or even teachers have viewed ipods as an educational tool. I think ipods and itunes have now really made a way for many educators to enhance there classroom. Another way of receiving research now because with so many loop holes in wikipedia, I think with itunes you can get some better trusted information.

Blog Post Assignment 5
NPR and Wikipedia
Well this is actually my first time reading about the things that have happened on wikipedia. I know personally that I have often referenced wikipedia about different research projects. I do often feel certain things on the internet are to good to be true. But it never really came to me that wikipedia would be one of them because so many people use it and you would think they would offer you the best information with all honesty. Now I wonder has some of my research information has ever been rewritten or incorrect. The only reason major companies do such things is to help make there company look good in the eyes of consumers. To hear about politicians doing so isn't a big surprise because they are known as liars.
To me wikipedia can still be trusted in some way but in my mind a little trust has been lost because I have to now go a little deeper to find out if my research is true. Based on the type of research being done many people will continue to trust the information given to them by wikipedia. The wikipedia scanner is a nice invention because now you get to see who is changing the information but where is it coming from exactly. I think the bigger surprise is how it isn't illegal to change someone else's information.
"What I've learned this year"
In this post I think it was very informative because it actually states the growth and development of the teacher and how he adjusted to the things that was thrown his way. A great point that was made was how as a teacher you still had to continue to learn and listen to your students and not get frustrated with your students when they don't quite reach your goals. He stated to stay positive that by it self is important because often you see the people get down on all the negatives but never see the good in a least one positive. As a person you should create that environment at work that your comfortable in and that you can do your best to continue to motivate and help kids learn. Each title to his paragraphs are good keys as a teacher to remember: How to read the crows, be flexible, communicate, be reasonable, don't be afraid of technology, listen to your students, lastly never stop learning. I agree with all them especially to not be afraid of technology. In this world today the key is technology it's time for teachers to accept it and use it to help motivate your classroom.

Blog Post Assignment 4
Lang Witches blog: It's not about the tools its about the skills.
The title alone it self makes you think a very intriguing article. Do the words blogging, skyping,or podcasting really intimidate the educators of today. Does it make a teacher uncomfortable with the type of technology out there that could be implemented into the classrooms. I feel all these tools could be useful in many subjects in many different ways. Especially language, reading and your media type classrooms. I don't think teachers should get away from the basics of teaching. But when given the chance to implement new teaching strategies using these tool, I feel every teacher should not only take a look at them but also practice with them become more familiar with the technology no teacher should be technology illiterate in today's world.
I think if certain skills are used in schools after training your administrators and teachers. Schools should reach out to the parents for a technology workshop. To demonstrate and explain some of the new technology that's out there that could help better that child. Parents knowing about these new programs also helps get more parental support in your PTO meetings many parents will hopefully give that school the support to use these materials. I think having kids demonstrate the effects of this technology at the meetings would be beneficial. Even though there is a risk at using these, no one should ever be afraid of participating in the activities of things such as podcasting, blogging, or skyping. If your afraid to me that means your afraid to learn, afraid to step outside the box and try new things. Because if your going to be able to educate and prepare these kids for the world then your going to have to incorporate different strategies into there education to get a message to a child, what may work for one child may not work for another. Having first grade kids using these it really makes a parent and teacher confident that it's a great thing to explore for every school system.
